Motivation

What is motivation?

Motivation is literally the desire to do things. It's the difference between waking up before dawn to pound the pavement and lazing around the house all day. It's the crucial element in setting and attaining goals—and research shows you can influence your own levels of motivation and self-control

If you don't have motivation, you won't do anyhting that you need to do because you don't feel like it or think that you are not good enough.

"Infuse your life with action. Don't wait for it to happen. Make it happen. Make your own future. Make your own hope. Make your own love. And whatever your beliefs, honor your creator, not by passively waiting for grace to come down from upon high, but by doing what you can to make grace happen... yourself, right now, right down here on Earth." - Bradley Whitford
Types of motivation:

The first type of motivation is amotivation, and occurs when an individual has very low levels of motivation towards any given task. The individual will display neither intrinsic nor extrinsic based behavior.

The second type of motivation is extrinsic motivation. Defined by Honeybourne (2005, p.81) as “the drive that is caused by motives that are external or environmental.” Extrinsic motivation is similar to intrinsic motivation in terms of self-determinism.
